The crash happened in a remote area near Cranberry Portage, said Peter Hildebrand of the Transportation Safety Board. "The helicopter hit the ground, crashed and burned," he said. Cranberry Portage is located 715 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg. An early report said it was believed the aircraft had struck a power line. A pilot and a 26-year-old Manitoba Hydro employee who was on his way to work on a transmission line were on-board, Manitoba Hydro said. Hildebrand said two investigators from the Transportation Safety Board would be investigating first thing Friday morning with local RCMP

transquebecniece
Was truly hoping to get through the end of summer without reading any more stories like this. My sympathies to family, friends and associates of the two gentlemen who lost their lives. So very tragic.
