The 417?

Haven't heard much of the Bell 417 since it was unveiled at Heli-Expo last year. Still in development? Any information or pictures on it?

I believe that the 417 was canceled just before Heli Expo this year there should be a story on it some where around here.

Indeed, the 417 project was canceled. See also Vertical issue April-May 2007, page 10.

I'm sitting in FT Worth right now , 417 is just a shelled fuselage. 429 is flying in Mirabel though, nice machine and much diff. than the 427!!

A friend was involved in a conference call involving the 417 program and it's fate. Apparently they couldn't get the thing to lift like they expected it to in order to warrant production. Now it would just be nice to put a turbine in a regular 407 that wouldn't temp out as it does now. Just being able to squeeze more tq out of the girl would be nice hot and high.

There's talk at Mirabel about a 407B. Composite tail and possibly new avionics. I haven't heard of a new powerplant being mentioned.
