An airline transport pilot flew his aircraft VFR in controlled airspace without maintaining visual reference with the ground. The pilot was sanctioned with a $750.00 monetary penalty.

A private pilot operated a Cessna 421 that was registered in a foreign state for more than 90 days within a 12-month period in Canada. In addition, the pilot flew the aircraft in IFR conditions when he did not hold a valid instrument rating. The pilot was fined a total of $1,750.00 for his actions.

A commercial pilot operating a Cessna 172 at an international airport taxied onto the active runway without authorization. At the same time, another aircraft was landing at the opposite end of the same runway. The pilot was sanctioned with a $200.00 monetary penalty.

A private pilot flying a Cessna 310Q was enroute on an IFR flight plan. The pilot was cleared and level at 9000 feet but subsequently initiated a climb without a clearance. The pilot was sanctioned with a monetary penalty of $525 for not complying with an ATC clearance.

A commercial pilot made false entries in his pilot’s logbook to hide the fact that he was unemployed as a pilot for a period of time. The pilot was sanctioned with a 10 days licence suspension.

Prairie & Northern Dec 30, 2005 CAR 605.30 20 days licence suspension

 

A private pilot flying a Piper 140 departed and flew a routing VFR into forecasted icing conditions. The route the pilot flew had icing in the forecast from the surface to 13,000 feet. The aircraft is not approved for flight in icing conditions. Subsequently, the pilot became disoriented and the aircraft was low on fuel. The pilot then carried out a successful precautionary landing on a highway. The pilot was sanctioned with a 20 days licence suspension for his poor airmanship.

A private pilot operating a Cessna 182 at an MF aerodrome, taxied onto the active runway without contacting the MF frequency. The pilot was sanctioned with a $750.00 monetary penalty.

A private American pilot flying a recreational aircraft VFR flew into a Canadian military training area without contacting the appropriate ATC frequency. The pilot was fined $200.00 for this omission.

A private pilot flying a Lake 200 into an uncontrolled aerodrome forgot to close his flight plan on arrival. Search and Rescue operations were initiated and a DND Hercules aircraft was launched. The pilot was sanctioned with a $250.00 monetary penalty for his forgetfulness.

Pacific July 30, 2005 CAR 602.01 $1,000 monetary penalty

 

A private pilot flying a Cessna 182 with a passenger on a VFR flight landed at two different aerodromes for fuel. Both aerodromes did not have fuel. The aircraft departed the last aerodrome and crashed 8 miles prior to the destination airport due to fuel starvation. The pilot attempted to land on the highway when the engine stopped however, the aircraft ended up in a ditch with the pilot badly shaken and the passenger sustaining a broken arm. For operating an aircraft in a reckless or negligent manner the pilot was sanctioned with a $1,000.00 monetary penalty.
