407 Driver Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Amodao, that's definitely a better choice than an Ariel installed in the 417 ? At least Honeywell may supply us parts in under 3 months  Quote
skullcap Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Well you know what they say, the only single engine turbine in production today that is faster than a 407 is a 417, oh and a B3, and a Koala, and a,,,,,,ah just kiddin' have fun with your 407's  Quote
VERTICAL REF Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 The Astar is a great helicopter. And there is nothing wrong with a 407 either. Each aircraft has specific operational areas in which they shine. You put a B3 up against a 407 and you are splitting hairs. Comes down to Ford or Chevy. Astar paid off my mortgage - don't knock it until you try it! Quote
cyclic monkey Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 EXCUSE ME ?? Did I hear correctly ???? 1000 hours and trying to decide whether to fly a 407 or an Astar ??? My goodness, how times have changed ! Luxury !! When I was a lad I had to work 27 hours a day down in coal-mine, then eat dirt for breakfast, then spit-shine helicopters 'til it was dark,....and pay the owner for the privilege. Aye, kids today got it too easy, I say. Quote
dannyboy Posted July 22, 2006 Author Report Posted July 22, 2006 No offence Cyclic Monkey please get things straight before commenting .I have definitly not had it easy ,three years going round in circles driving tractors doing 18 hr days to pay for licence . Then another three years being a loader doing ag in the morning at first light then sitting in a 6 by 4 caravan on the side of the road working my *** off selling glacier flights for the rest of the day cleaning heli's and even baby sitting bosses kid's being paid bugger all then being told I didn't have enough experience and try else where . Luckely by doing this another company was watching and started me. So please dont judge me by asking a honest question all I want to do is get into a 407 down the track it may be next year it may be in 5 honestly I would be quiet happy flying a 500 for the rest of my career. Plinko Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 CM Very disturbing! I can only imagine what the other photos in your picture albums look like. Have you considered therapy? Plink Quote
The fifth element Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Should be a pretty easy the B3 lifts 100 kg more then 407.... so we sold the 407 got a second b3 the new one is with a bubble window and the seat and controls moved to the right (11 centimeter) no idea if there is an stc in canda yet... they did that for the winners in the company...lol Quote
