Hawc 1 A Ageing Aircraft?

Calgary's 120 is not new, they bought it off of Phoenix heli-flight.

 

It is S/N 1050. New off the assembley line is S/N1420 or so.

There's an item not mentioned in that article and not known by many of the public or news media. The police forces work on a different "Retirement Life" than is generally known. The RCMP. for example and for eons, had/have a "Retirement Life of 60,000 miles for their crusier cars and similar for a sundry of other articles they use. The order was placed at that milage and then they waited and waited and waited for that replacement to arrive. That vehicle might have had twice that mileage on it before final approval was made. Government financial departments move very, very slow and that's why. Anyone with a military background knows all about that scenario, the crap involved and the waiting.........and it's the same deal for many of the police forces.

 

Many of the civilian a/c I've flown, both F/W and R/W have in excess of 20,000 hrs and still perform their jobs admirably.....and why not? The chances of the same happening in the police or military fields is NIL.........and wouldn't be tolerated......regardless of budgets........they'd ground them first. Different "world" guys and different rules and many of them for very good reasons.

i think the Calgary Police need to worry more about finding pilots as the ones they have are bailing.........
