imfsub12 Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 yes need someone to verify a question??? what is the answer? Given a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and an altimeter setting of 29.92 at sea level, what is the density altitude 1. 0 ft 2. 100 ft 3. 200 ft 4. 300 ft Thanks Quote
imfsub12 Posted July 10, 2003 Author Report Posted July 10, 2003 thats what i thought so to but they tell me its #3 Quote
Commodore64 Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 would density alt and pressure alt be the same in this case or not? I don''t have my whizwheel handy... Quote
Phil Croucher Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Density altitude depends on non-stadard temperature, so since you are in standard conditions at sea level, the answer is zero - if you were at 200 feet it would be 200. Phil Quote
downwash Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 Thanks, Phil, I knew SOMEONE would back me up. Quote
C-HRIS Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 If the AS is 29.92, Pressure altitude= Indicated Altitude. If the temp is at standard, Pressure Altitude= Density Altitude. If the temp is at standard and the AS is 29.92, Pressure Altitude= Density Altitude= Indicated Altitude= True Altitude. Anytime the temp is not standard and the altimeter setting is not 29.92, they will all be different, and your altimeter will never read true altitude. If this confused you more, I apologize Quote
