N2 Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Just wondering how many plan to attend this years show? Last years was sort of a let down and with SARS in the region I was just wondering how many are going to skip the show this year. If I do go (which I doubt) I hope it''s a heck of alot better than last years. Quote
flythenumbers Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I gonna go, hopefully bring a friend with me, cause its more fun that way. Not flying in though. Hoping to get a demo flight in Cirrus''s SR22, if the sales guy gets back to me. Last year I went, but was my first show so I had nothing to compare it too. Quote
N2 Posted June 10, 2003 Author Report Posted June 10, 2003 FTN just curious are you in the market to buy a Cirrus? Nice aircraft but expensive. Quote
schteevie Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Is this the one that is in Oshawa? if so - last year it rained the whole time I was there - exterior exhibits were a bust... when is it this year? Quote
N2 Posted June 11, 2003 Author Report Posted June 11, 2003 The show starts June 14 at CYOO Schteevie. There is supposed to be a really good show in Sherbrooke Quebec at the end of the month. The admission to that show is only $5.00 which is about all this show is worth and is more centered around the fun aspect of aviation, free admission to those who fly in(not just the pilot but everyone on board). Hmmmmm, come to think of it they should be paying us to come out and buy things off the vendors. Just think of the outcry if food stores started charging admission for the privilege of shopping in their stores! Personally I have never found any real deals at this show.[:bigsmile Quote
flythenumbers Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 N2, I suspect I suffer from the plight of many men who fly: I''d be more serious about buying a plane if my wife were more into it. At this time, I am more looking for a different kind of rental option. I have heard from Cirrus Design that Island Air may rent block time on an SR22. My interest in the Cirrus at this time is more to see what it is like to fly, and I can''t seem to find many people who own one, and are willing to take a guy up. Do I want to buy a Cirrus? well, money for the plane is a big issue, but it doesn''t quite match the specs that I would like. (I like the Piper Dakota''s numbers, even if it is slower.) Quote
N2 Posted June 12, 2003 Author Report Posted June 12, 2003 Was just over at the show site and heard that some American exhibitors are not showing this year due to the SARS scare. Hmmmm Garmin, Spruce????? I would hate to think that some of the bigger exhibitors won’t be showing. Quote
N2 Posted June 12, 2003 Author Report Posted June 12, 2003 Hydro, I can't say who is or isn't showing I really didn't hear any specifics. I just hope that the show is half decent, last year was sort of a let down. They need to get more exhibitors out and I don't mean car dealers like the ones that are showing up, it's an aviation show not a car show. If I wanted to go look at cars I certainly don't need to be spending money on admissions. Yes Friday does look like it's going to be crap Quote
hydroces Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Garmin? Is that just a maybe, or did you hear they were one of the ones who cancelled. I''m planning on attending, and wanted to take a look at some GPS units. Friday seems to be a write off weather wise. But Saturday and Sunday should be very nice, hopefully a good event! hydro Quote
N2 Posted June 13, 2003 Author Report Posted June 13, 2003 Well it seems that all the big guys from last year are there, Spruce, Cirrus, Piper so I don''t know who didn''t show. Quote
