Well done indeed. A landing you can walk away from is an excellent landing. A landing you can walk away from and the machine can fly again is just as excellent. Bravo!

Occurrence Summary:

A mid-air collision occurred between a L R Helicopters Inc. Bell 212, C-FTLR, and a Namao Flying

Club Cessna 172, C-GJJL. C-FTLR was en route from Fort McMurray, AB, to Rocky Mountain

House, AB, at an altitude of 3500 feet ASL and on an approximate course of 200°M; only the pilot

was on board. C-GJJL was conducting a proficiency training flight with one instructor and a

privately licensed pilot on board. They had completed their exercises and were returning to

Villeneuve Airport (CZVL), AB, and on a track of 145°M level at 3500 feet ASL.

The collision occurred 13 NM northwest of CZVL. The pilot of C-FTLR set down in a farm field

shortly after the collision. C-GJJL continued on to CZVL and landed with no issue. The outer

portion of the leading edge of the right wing of C-GJJL had contacted the right side of C-FTLR's tail

skid/stinger

so close to being so much worse. Very lucky.
