xrkyle
BC's new Pay Transparency Act requires that BC based employers include the expected pay or the expected pay range for a specific job opportunity that they advertise publicly. I don't see this happening in the job posts made by BC based operators in this employment forum. It would be good if Vertical forum admins required it as a condition of posting here.
xrkyle
It just occurred to me that BC's new legislation may not apply to BC based operators since they would be considered federally regulated employers.
Heliian
My rule is that if there is no salary range listed then it's not enough and not worth wasting time with. Ontario is moving to make salary disclosure mandatory so it's a good start. 1
UggaDugga
Yeah in this job market, listing a "competitive salary" isn't going to garner you a lot of attention
tipspeed
Couldn’t agree more, at least give a range and then you can work out what you make based on your experience.

CM119
I’ve seen a trend where employers are disclosing pay ranges in aviation, however, the spreads are so wide it may as well be listed commensurate with experience. Ads with 75-200k pay ranges is a disingenuous means of compliance with the rules and/or probably a fishing tactic to confuse/entice potential candidates. 3

You are correct but you also have to have an incorporation in the province you’re based in as well when you’re federally incorporated (both). As an employer they have to follow both guidelines as far as I know and that’s where things get murky and an accountant a lawyers territory.

They’re probably unaware of the regulation. And I wonder what the recourse is for not abiding by this rule, probably nothing.
SpoolDown
They’ll just continue to post a huge pay range, offer you the lowest end of the range they figure they can get away with and see how well you negotiate vs how desperately they need you at the time. Those worst at negotiating or who don’t know their value (less ego) will always lose. 6
