Spartan99 Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Have picked out a model i will go with for a helmet, im just curious if anyone out there would steer away from black or dark colours because of the heat/sun attraction issues?...Or is it irrelevent? Quote
NG Limited Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Spartan99, I painted my SPH-5 a dark Charcoal Grey metallic a couple of years ago and it doesn't seem to be any hotter than when it was white. Scratches show up a lot easier in the dark color though. Although that could be in part from the type of paint I used. Hope this helps. Cheers! Quote
Intrepid Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Lighter colour reflects heat better....except yellow. Yellow diverts UV rays inward and fries the brain into mush. Quote
Iceman Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Black Endura, no heat problems during Canadian summers. Quote
Spartan99 Posted August 17, 2005 Author Report Posted August 17, 2005 Nice, thanks for your valued input...So basically ill make sure i stay away from Yellow lol...will probably go flat black...Thanks again guys... Quote
407 Driver Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 I painted my SPH-5 a dark Charcoal Grey metallic a couple of years ago <{POST_SNAPBACK}> NG, add a good splash of Red to that Helmet, a generous amount of white and we have a matching 212 just for you ! Me, I just fly a White SPH-5, but it has Kokapelli stickers on the sides, ( Anasazi god of Fertility ??? ) and it was previously owned by the recently retired multi millionaire Mr Dave Whyte ! Skidz Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Mine's a home-made colour (buddy who did it works for Megabloks and used it for colour tests). One coat of royal blue laquer, one coat of light green laquer, two coats of clear, one coat of clear doped with rainbow metalflake, followed by a final coat of clear (polyurethane, so very scratch resistant). If I put it close to something in any shade of blue, it looks green. If I put it close to something in any shade of green, it looks blue. The closest colour I could say is "teal", but that wouldn't sound very macho now, would it... 300 hours of use and only some very minor scratches so far... Quote
