sharkbait Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 I like ####'s plan. Slow but sure. I was just gonna push the **** thing out of the back of a Herc over the peak and try to have the first bounce counted as a landing. Pretty sure that we can buy a suitable R44 cheap from the Surete du Quebec. That is if Biggles doesn't buy it to use to commute home to the new dog and digs. Quote
cap Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Maggie ------- your description sounds like the premise for another "Reality" series for TV or an episode of "Fear factor". Perhaps you have another "Calling" and don't realize it. Quote

ABQ Approach Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 This is all so funny! Even if Eurocopter is recognized for setting this record, you know Bell is just gonna take a 407 up there and land 5 feet higher...with the seats installed! Quote
Skids Up Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 On the Discovery Channel program it said it was a production helicopter BUT quite a few things had been removed from the machine. The pilot gave a list but can't remember what all was on it... Quote
justfly Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 ...and land 5 feet higher Huh? Where do you suggest a landing 5 feet higher than the summit of Everest would be ABQ? Quote
Firehawk Posted June 13, 2005 Report Posted June 13, 2005 Who cares what was in or out of the machine the thing landed up there. Its a great feat. Eurocopter was the first to do it and thats all there is to it, Like the Russians beating the americians into space. Now the americans will do it but with seat cushions in the space craft. Quote
beltdrive Posted June 19, 2005 Report Posted June 19, 2005 When Bell had the 205, and 206 Lots of power visibility and space.(headroom).... there was the lama. 407???? its the year 2005 and the 407 still has a 20 Dollor walmart seat and headroom like a coffin..... way to go bell.....who is disigning the 407 the smurfs??? Had about some seats to reduce fatigue??? Quote
helicopterjim Posted June 19, 2005 Report Posted June 19, 2005 - “Time to climb” records to the heights of 3,000, 6,000 and 9,000 meters performed on April 14th, 2005 in respectively 2 minutes 21 seconds, 5 minutes 6 seconds and 9 minutes 26 seconds. These records smash the previous ones held by an Ecureuil/AStar AS350 B1 with respectively 2 minutes 59 seconds, 6 minutes 55 seconds and 13 minutes 52 seconds, <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They don't tell you they are absolute records in their weight category. Otherwise why would the Federation Aeronautique International list these records? Altitude in horizontal flight : 9 010 m Date of flight: 29/04/1975 Pilot: Manuchehr KHOSROWDAD (Iran) Course/place: Ahwaz (Iran) Rotorcraft: Bell 214A (1 Lycoming LTC4B-8D, 2 250 hp) Time to climb to a height of 3 000 m : 1 min 58 sec Date of flight: 29/04/1975 Pilot: Manuchehr KHOSROWDAD (Iran) Course/place: Ahwaz (Iran) Rotorcraft: Bell 214A (1 Lycoming LTC4B-8D, 2 250 shp) Time to climb to a height of 6 000 m : 5 min 14 sec Date of flight: 29/04/1975 Pilot: Manuchehr KHOSROWDAD (Iran) Course/place: Ahwaz (Iran) Rotorcraft: Bell 214A (1 Lycoming LTC4B-8D, 2 250 shp) Time to climb to a height of 9 000 m : 15 min 05 sec Date of flight: 29/04/1975 Pilot: Manuchehr KHOSROWDAD (Iran) Course/place: Ahwaz (Iran) Rotorcraft: Bell 214A (1 Lycoming LTC4B-8D, 2 250 shp) It is all in how you present the facts!! Also that is for a 214A wich has an engine rated at 280 SHP less than the 214B. I wonder what the B could do? Quote
