i just saw a job ad for an auto mechanic in grand prairie. the salary posted was $125.000!!! this must be some busy shop....methinks i'm in the wrong friggin business if the ad reflects current auto mech wages!!

Saw an ad in the paper yesterday for Canadian Tire. They're offering 9 bucks an hour for entry-level wrenches... :down:

Builders Labourers working at LHR T5 were being paid in the region of $70 CDN, word was electricians were into the 6 figures.

I just had my furnace looked at by a self employed guy for $150 for just over an hour work,and have a friend who is newely licenced as a refactory brick mason, who said he hit 6 figures in late Nov.. I also saw an at for a dental hygene worker for $42 an hr in GP,but most auto mechs made around $27 an hr I think.and work out of their garage as well..

Contract engineers can come close to $90K a year too in a good season....so there is hope for aviation yet.

There an ad in the Abbotsford paper 3 weeks ago from Kingland Ford in yellowknife looking for a licenced automechanic, starting wage 80-100 thousand depending on experience. I realize cost of living in Yellowknife is high, but that sounds pretty good.

I think you will find that they pay that for car mech's in Texas.

100k in Yellowknife is approx. equivalent to 75k in southern Alberta.
