Hi there! I have been looking at the books for studying the INRAT exam. The ones i have found seem mostly geared towards the fixed wing side. What I would like to know is do I have to really know things like high level airspace, pressure setting regions... things that a helicopter would never be a part of.

As well are there any good resources for practice inrat-H exams? I have the sharpers edge book but it's mostly geared towards fixed wing.

Thanks

First off you need to know the standard pressure setting regions, you enter them in the arctic. A good reference for any IFR regs are in the CAPGEN, a lot is only applicable to helicopters.

I did my IFR, ATPL(H) and night at Heli-College Canada in Langley, they are very good! They also used Pro-IFR's book which i found to be very good as a refresher. I still use my copy 4 years later along with the Capgen.

Get a new CAP GEN. There has been quite a few changes over the last couple of years and a lot more recently. Pay attention to every section that has the word helicopter in it.

It IS a helicopter exam so anything to do with alternate min's or approach bans will be helicopter specific. ie: no sliding rule.

Lots of GPS questions in there. Mine had about 7. Get a current AIM. Sit the aerocourse.
