Winnie
My mistake MINI, I added 1 and 2 and came up with 4!! My Godfather was a Captain on a SK61 that shed a Blade in 1977 in the North sea (out of Norway). There were no survivors, and apparently they all died before they knew what happened. There were two more in 1976 in LA, with LA Airways. Also no survivors. Then there was Heavy-Lift's S-64 in 1996 or 97. Same thing, blade let go, machine blew up mid air. FUDNUF
Good old DTN quite the stump puller (probally why the blade separated) The pilot received only minor injuries, bit his tongue, chafing on the buttocks, bumps and brusies. The machine shook its' self apart before it hit the ground. The pictures I seen of Dave's machine and the tailrotor blade, looks like the crack came from the trailing edge from under the riveted weight. Exactly where BHT described it in the ASB. I'm glad good old Dave (Fidel) walked away so he can continue telling his stories. I wonder how many lives He has left ? When do you get out of the industry, just before it kills you ?
