Hours are always good, particularly if they are Captain time - one of the big problems that large companies have is that the FOs have so little opportunity to exercise command - hence the PICUS schemes. If you have money to spend, a twin rating might be an idea - fortunately in Canada you can do the IR on a single.

Hi All good advice thanks.

I am ex british military so looks like I may be a little better off than most looking to get into IFR world.

I am thinking of doing my ATPL and IR early next year - after hopefully earning a bit more money this season??!!

I have just over 1200hrs multi, a JAA MCC certficate, TC and JAA CPL(H) and 100hrs on instruments.

I had a Military 'green' instrument rating which meant nothing added to any plate MDH/MA. I know this counts for zip but it is stored somewhere back in my 41yr old grey matter....... :)

Are there any good job hunting websites that are used for the offshore market in particular?

I don't know how effective this site is, but you can search companies by machine type or by location -it might (at least) give you some places to start.

There's always http://www.jsfirm.com too.

Happy hunting!
