Rotorboy2 Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 If you're a pilot/gas plant operator, then you are a shoe-in. Quote
Ryan Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 About that pilot/gas plant operator...where could one do the gas plant training? Is it a very long course or just a few weeks? Expensive or no? Thanks. Quote
Guest jesse Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 Hey Ryan check out northern lights college in fort st. john www.nlc.bc.ca or petroleum industry training service in alberta at www.pits.ca they both offer oil and gas industry training and courses related to gas plant operation. Guest Angry Egg Driver Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 I was there for a a year and a half before they sold their seismic division to Mustang.Good guys and a great place for low time guys to get a start. They had some issues in the past but I think in the past 12 months things have definately improved for them. Quote
Peeshooter Posted December 25, 2004 Report Posted December 25, 2004 Egg driver AES as is well known, is the evolution of Recon, the company was started by Eric Gould. I believe after a short break he is back at the helm with office in Calgary or Edmonton. Al Menard the CP seems like a nice guy but I have only spoken to him once or twice, so of more I have no knowledge. I think they operate some turbine machines too. 350/ 206./maybe even 205, but I am not sure..? Sour gas plant work????, Ahhh.. no thanks... hard on ones lungs...know guys trying to get as far away as possible!! Cheers, seasons greetings PS Quote

Zazu Posted December 26, 2004 Report Posted December 26, 2004 Ryan, If looking for work up here ( Northern Alberta), and you come up dry, there is lots of oil field work around so you can at least get your feet wet. The pay is pretty good generally all around, so you can at least afford to stick around. Even now I work strictly as an operator in the winter and fly in the summer. Just make sure you have all your basic tickets including a drivers abstract. H2S, first aid, TDG, WHMIS etc. A class 3 drivers licence wouldn't hurt either. Good luck Quote
