pilot5 Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Quick question, maybe just paranoid I flew this Astar on a ferry recenetly and on shut down when the RMP came down to below 150 there was a 1 revolotion noise coming form the head.. or transmission sounded like it needed grease... WTF more of hmmm, hmmm , hmmmm. very audible... any ideas...definately coming from the head or mast. Lots of dash shake too at 60- 100 kts..?????? P5 Quote
Skidz Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Your noise at shutdown is probably a dry droop ring. Your dash shake in cruise is probably a matter of blade balancing. Now for the 100-dollar question: Did you snag it in the journey log? Quote
koalaa119 Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I agree with the dry droop stop ring. I have had this in the past a number of times. The dash shake definitely sounds like you need some balancing work done. koala Quote

ThreePer Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Droop ring for sure. If it gets some sand in the 355 and then drys out it sounds really angry on shutdowns. The best part is: You can grease it yourself without "snagging it in the book"! Quote
pilot5 Posted December 10, 2010 Author Report Posted December 10, 2010 Thanks fellas Done and the next fella, that gets the bird has less worries. Kinda like flying a mini 365. Home soon yeah.. P5 Quote
