the fenestron sucks like crazy and sucked the umbrella thru it. We had a small tree get sucked thru a gazelle fenestron,,,,caused momentary loss in thrust.

I'm well aware of how much air a Feneston can move. My point is how did the pilot manage to get close enough to it in the first place?

I heard the mechanic parked his truck on the pad and the pilot had to manuever around to where there was room and invariably sucked up the umbrella,,,,,,maybe the downwash loosened it and then got sucked in. Fnose? Fenestron doesn't give you a license to be negligent of obstacles like some would like you to believe.

Sorry but not possible, no roads in the bottom of the canyon. Pilot turned his tail into the umbrella. Pilot had been there numerous times it was his third flight of the day.... Complacency is a killer!

Sorry got my facts all wrong . Seems as though it was a Canadian AME and was on his donkey at the bottom of canyon and was holding an umbrella. The spooky noise of the fenestron caused the donkey to rear up and the AME momentarily lost his grip on the umbrella which of course got sucked into the fenestron. Damned donkeys. :angry:
