DISCLAIMER: THE FOLLOWING IS RUMOUR AND MAY NOT BE ACCURATE AT ALL.

I have heard that Ornge wants to have their own operation eventually but as it stands, Kelner and CHC are providing services for now. There was talk of a large base in Sudbury for Ornge maintenance but it's anyone's guess. Personally, I think it's great that they got the new machines as there are many advantages over the old 76's. But, there have been some complaints from other medevac operators of the 139 that when fitted out with all the gear that they're not performing as well as advertised.

I think they should diversify their helicopter fleet to provide better access to patients. When they went to wheeled a/c they lost the ability to land in remote areas but if they can start hoisting with the 139 then that problem is solved.

You were correct in the first line, CHC has nothing to do with ORNGE and never has. That would be CHL, sold off many moons ago.

Last October, CHL sent a press release out that stated ORNGE would not be renewing their Services Contract beyond March 31, 2012. So, right now the ORNGE ships are piloted and maintained by CHL, but ORNGE will take over completely by March 31 2012. So will end CHL's 34 year history of providing air medical services to the province of Ontario.
