TheBirdman Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 It was a sad day last year to hear that news. I have good memories of Tim and Matt. Always a story to tell the both of them. They will be missed. Quote
pilot5 Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 Saw the program last night. Was very pissed off over the supposed 30 minute run dry issue. Whan at helijet I was always aware that we had 30 minutes of run dry in the 76 and there would be time to get back from the middle of the georgia straight if the oil pressure dumped. I question the validity of this claim today in regards to the cougar 92 accident. It is dishartening to think that had the pilot known that the 30 minute run dry was BS they could have ditched at zero airspeed and probably even hover exited the guys into the drink and poped the floats and and mitigated the impact of the ditching! #### me! and #### the manufacturer! *** holes! P5 yeah, good point, as a pilot you have to be able to rely on the data the manufacturer publishes because there is no way to really test it. When I was at Helijet, I always wondered about the weight rating on the S76 floats-I remember reading max weight was only 7600 pounds (if my memory serves me correctly), but you guys often left the base with a full cabin of passengers and very near or even at MGTOW, which was about 10,800 for the S76A; how well does a 76 float under those conditions? Maybe they assume you are going to keep power on while off-loading 12 paniced passengers in high heels and business suits into a little life raft! Anyway, it had me wondering..... Quote
