I have a Coast LED Lenser V (Coast TekTorches). It has 5 white LEDs and one UV LED. It takes 4 AAA batteries and isn't much longer than the batteries. Gives a good even white light certainly good enough in a cockpit or minor viewing on the engine/airframe. Not as good as the old orange 7V Makita but a lot smaller.

I have seen some guys packing around everything from AAA's to C's and D's, so much simpler if you make sure all your electronic devices use one common power source.

These things work rather well when you have the means, it's got a battery inside so you can charge your goodies at night after its been outside scooping up the UV all day

Check out the Fenix LD20, runs on 2 AA batt's, provides a constant output. And in giver mode gives 5W output with a small package. It ain't cheap but you won't be dissapointed.
