Gary Watson Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 I have a Coast LED Lenser V (Coast TekTorches). It has 5 white LEDs and one UV LED. It takes 4 AAA batteries and isn't much longer than the batteries. Gives a good even white light certainly good enough in a cockpit or minor viewing on the engine/airframe. Not as good as the old orange 7V Makita but a lot smaller. Quote
407driver Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 I have seen some guys packing around everything from AAA's to C's and D's, so much simpler if you make sure all your electronic devices use one common power source. L3 These things work rather well when you have the means, it's got a battery inside so you can charge your goodies at night after its been outside scooping up the UV all day http://www.solio.com/charger/ Quote
justfly Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Proton PRO Flashlight LRI's Proton PRO features a single high-power 2W Cree LED to produce an incredible 1,000+ candle power, powered by a single AA battery. A smaller red LED provides an optional low power secondary beam. LRI's popular Freedom® digital circuitry provides intuitive one-button access to full-range brightness control and safety strobe functions for both the primary and secondary beam. With its output of over 1,000 candle power, the new Proton PRO is one of brightest single-AA flashlights on the market. A single AA battery will power the Proton for approximately 1.5 hours at full power or up to 250 hours at reduced brightness. IMHO - the perfect preflight (bright white) & cockpit (dimmable red or white) pilot's light solution. Quote
Rye Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Check out the Fenix LD20, runs on 2 AA batt's, provides a constant output. And in giver mode gives 5W output with a small package. It ain't cheap but you won't be dissapointed. Quote
