Icewind Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Let's move away from the old 'blame game' where we decide which individual gets dumped on. Ask the question: Who could have prevented this and can prevent it from happening again? Answer = the pilot, the chief pilot, the operations manager or the owner! By the way - that is real safety management.......... Quote
Skidmark Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Sat phones shouldn't be relied upon anyhow, especially if it is a Globalstar. Those things are dead weight in the aircraft. You'll kill the battery just looking for a signal. Good job to the pilot not to push it or this could have been an entirely different thread. Just remember there are more tools in your tool bag than a sat phone or sat tracking. Quote

By the way - that is real safety management.......... After reading some of the comments........ I am reminded by the above statement, what Scully said, and a couple of P.M.'s, that all that is really important, is everyone stayed safe. I do regret my sarcastic post (dark humour does not work well in print). To the pilot in question, yes we all make mistakes.......and from those we learn. Cheers, Bob H56 Quote
