Elan Head
Some of you may have heard about the very sad R44 crash that killed four in Maryland last week. (Has it been a crappy run for pilots lately, or what?) Going through news alerts this morning, I saw this press release: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2009/07/prweb2690844.htm ... in which a wrongful death lawyer says he believes that only pilots with at least 1,000 hours should be allowed to fly non-family members. Huh. What do y'all think about that?

flingwinger
Non Family members are people too. Should not be allowed to fly ANY pax until 600 hours then please tell me how anyone would get that first 600 hours? it would be next to impossible unless they had very deep pockets. Huh. What do y'all think about that? There are dumb statements made by people, but that happens to be one of the better ones. If he is such a great lawyer why does he not take out a Class Action Suit against the FAA on behalf of all passengers killed in accidents with the pilot having less than his stated hours. Again, O great one, what are you basing your statement on?????? Don
06HeliMAN
Family members are more of a distraction for me. This lawyer is talking junk.
Over-Talk
quotes released so far..... Date: 07/23/2009 Time: 2230 age of pilot, 24 the pilot flying the helicopter reportedly had only 630 hours of flight time The flight had been delayed initially due to the weather, and the crash occurred fifteen minutes after take-off. The helicopter was flying low at the time of the crash due to fog and rain. The helicopter hit a power line and burst into flames One passenger was a student/office employee of the helicopter company. One was a marketing manager of the company's charity efforts. The other was not related to the company. How would family members have affected that decision making process ??? Fxxxing lawyers!!.....people died here, can't you at least say something sensible and caring ???
Swamp76
And all drivers (of automobiles) should be required to take an anuual road test and be prohibited from carrying passengers outside of family until they have driven 50,000 miles (80,000 kms). Enact both at the same time and I'll vote yes.
shakey
Wow I've even heard of guys with over a 1000 hrs doing stupid things and killing people. How in the h3ll do you get 1000 hrs without having passengers? Just goes to show you that you don't have to be smart to be a lawyer.
NDN Air
I think that the lawyer should not be allowed to represent non-family members until he's had 1000 cases! Let's see how that makes him feel...
