T-rex Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 I heard, only a rumor though, that the Ontario Gov't was looking at operating the Bell 212 in replacement for their Astars? I heard they are looking at long term contracts for this? Any one else got this rumor or better yet got any FACTS on this?? Quote
widgeon Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 maybe they could be 100 r44's instead. Quote
cyclic monkey Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 Hi 'Rex, some people made reference to this rumour in "Firehawks in Canada" (last post on 28 February). Australia and the US are going through a complete re-think of what is the perfect machine to fight fires with. It would appear that OMNR is certainly sniffing around for something new also. Sorry, no facts, but there is certainly lots of gossip on this one so far. Quote
407 Driver Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 No rumors here, but I have had dealings with a certain ONT operator who was debating a new 407 over "another type" due to the present situation with OMNR. Quote
Puddle Jumper Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 407 Heard the same rumour in regards to a certain operator picking up a 407. Talked to him and it sounds like he has decided against a 407. Sounds like he plans on sticking to the current fleet. PJ Quote
407 Driver Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Makes sense PJ, it's getting late in the spring to be outfitting a new aircraft. My involvement was simply them asking me what I thought of the type and how it's worked for us. Can anyone here guess my point of view ? Quote
jetbox Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 407, you can't fool us! We know you spend every minute in that disgusting Bell product wishing it was an Astar!!! I'm just kidding of course, don't y'all get all pissy and offended again Quote
cyclic monkey Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Actually 407Driver spends every minute that he is squeezed into that little red rocket dreaming of the next time he gets to roll the big iron out of the hangar so he can become........ TA-DAAAAH....."212 Driver".................wop,wop,wop,wop. Quote
407 Driver Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 The truth be known, my winter ride is not generally a 407.....Here it is, the 2nd newest aircraft we own......EC doesn't produce ANYTHING that can touch this in a Ski environment. Quote
pitchlink Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Hey guys, Strictly a rumour but I heard that MNR is gonna have at least one EC 130 B4 running around with a bird dog officer this summer!! http://www.eurocopter.com/photos/DP-06443.jpg Quote
