Knowing nothing about LTS converted AStars I was asked a question about the lifting capacity of one. I was honest when I said "Sorry I don't have any experience on type". But now I am curious and pose the question to find the answer. The question was what would a FX2 lift at 3000' on a mild day, say 15C. Sorry if any details are missing but this is my first question on the forum and about the AS350FX2.

Basically the same as a B2 only with better high and hot performance. On a 15c day you should be able to do max external gross up to around 4200 ft. OGE. So with an empty weight around 2800 lbs and a max external gross of 5512 lbs, You are legal at around 2500lbs with zero fuel. Realistically though it will do around 2000 lbs depending on on your fuel.

The FX2 has slightly better performance above 6500' on a hot day 25C +. The lycoming engine seems to breath better in thinner air. The slight difference isn't really enough to say its better. Under that, your really gross weight limited in both the B2 FX2.

The LTS 101, both 600 and 700 series will out work a BA and B2 respectivly, at altitude or on a hot day. When ever you are NG limited with an areal you could pull more with a 101. Don't know much about the FX, but the SOLOY conversion, I have a few thousand hours in both DA & D2's, are great. Call Mark at Heliproducts, he specializes in B2 conversions.
