old Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 logging. Not just tough but real tough to be fast enough to make a buck for the company. Quote
mini chopper Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Thank you! No one appreciates us loggers. I haven't done heli skiing but mostly every thing else and the only one that would get noticeable mention is setting towers. Quote
rainman Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Moving drills, bags and general slinging of loads at 10000-14000 ft in a B2 in the deserts of China. Part of the difficulty was the flying, and the other half was the isolation one feels that far from home with crap food and camp stuff. No shower on site, no toilet ( I dug my own every few days) However, we did have cell phones that we could use to keep in touch. All in all this was my hardest job so far, I think I learned to be a better longliner though, first few loads were...interesting. Quote
Helilog56 Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Grapple logging in small wood..... Quote
helicopterjim Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Grapple logging in small wood..... ...... unless it is an hourly job. Then its fun!! Quote
longliner Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Removing the bodies of 13 drowniing victims, 11 of them under 16, after a tragic canoeing accident back in the 80's. I was with a police force at the time and counselling was a thing of future! I've come to terms with it now but I must admit it that it remained in my thoughts for years and tradgedies such as the recent avalanche in B.C. refresh painful memories. Fly Safe! Quote
FREDDIE Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I don't know what was harder heli logging flying or counting the money. If I ever got frustrated or worked to hard,I would look at how many minutes I had been in the air multiply by 3 bucks and that made everything better. Worked great for 10000 hrs!!!!!!!!!   Quote
helicopterjim Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 O yeh Jim Logging is always fun How true! Way better than working for a living! I find anything that involves passengers is difficult. Can't they just find their own way? Quote
