well elvis....have you re-packed floats before? ****, that pilot should be a hero :punk:

 No doubt. The bummer is that the helicopter probably wasn't scrapped in that accident....I'll take the float repack over getting that machine back up and running any day. Then again.....repacking floats really does suck.

Perhaps the pilot doesn't usually fly a helicopter with pop out floats and forgot about them with the onset of the engine difficulties.... pilot probably felt pretty silly once they were all out and swimming around an upside-down Astar.

Question though: You can see those bags on the skid from the pilots seat, right?

I guess if you're starting to get really worried (I'm being careful not to use the word panic) I think ones field of vision would narrow quite some....

but then again these are all "PERHAPS" statements. I wasn't there.

I'm envisioning a Fred Flinstone-like moment where right at the moment of the truth, the "lever' comes off in the pilot's hand and his eyes bug out 6 inches from his head.

But I have a vivid imagination.

What was it, looks like an AS350.

Ha Ha Elvis, you see treachery wins again!!

Funny pop-out float story.......

An AME was doing a 100 hr inspection and thought he should check the siren.

So he leaned into the cockpit and pressed the button.

BANGGGG !!!

He hit the float button by mistake and it inflated instantly under his butt.

He's lucky his legs weren't broken.

Here's the interesting part.....

the float on the other side of the aircraft didn't pop !!!

That caused a lot of raised eyebrows.....and a long wiring-circuit shake-down!!

(but thankfully there was only one bag to repack !!!)
