  1. well now that everyone knows that it is ****, well one story stands out in my mind.... not shure how other guys were trained but after geting comfterable in the art of autorotations Mr **** Wood reached over in the down wind to a alf alfa patch and hit the mags. Like I said not shure if any one else had him do this to them but that sound of ****'s laugh and no engine with the comment of " I guess we are commitetted now" really put things into perspective. ****'s laugh is in my mind every approach I make. Sounds corny but after only 4000+ hrs I still hear that wonderful laugh and "I guess we are committed now" Kind of like "What would Willy do? (Willy Nelson)". I say "What would **** do?" Bellboy
  2. My thoughts are with the family and guys at TN. This sucks. RIP
  3. I have a hard time accepting the thoughts of Mr. Suzuki, and Mr. Al Gore. This kick for global warming and the new craze of biofuel is for the birds. A few questions to ask yourself before you feel bad about passing gas which may cause the room temp to rise .05 deg Celsius: 1- Ethanol/Hydrogen....... how much fossil fuels do you burn to create enough ethanol/hydrogen to make it worth the effort to create so every one can convert their gas jobs over? Why else would oil companies sell a watered down fuel for the same price (example Husky, and BP) if it didn't make them more money? Have not tested this but heard Ethanol hides water in gasoline. For example using ethanol blended fuel in a Piston engine a/c, drain tanks and no separation of water (will test when price of Gasoline comes down). 2 - Global Warming........ Didn't Mr. Suzuki preach to us Canadians about Global Cooling about 10 years ago? (Personally I think he is an old hippie who found a new "friend" with a fat cheque and his name on it). I was NE of Fort Mac from Jan 1st to Feb 15th, it was -52C one morning (according to the astar turkey gauge) with no sign of MR Gore or Suzuki telling me the planet is warming up. 3 - Food prices....... How much will a loaf of bread cost when countries like the USA and Canada cut into their food (i.e. Wheat, Barley, Canola) to dilute their oil products. Wheat is at an all time high since the 1940s because most farmers are growing canola and corn for biodiesel and ethanol.
  4. Used the All Terrain picker, was good not to have to worry about knocking pins over, but the snow and all of the plastic dosn't help. Also heard of a guy who couldn't get the plunger to drop in a stiff wind. Conquest's are a piece of S***. I think that they should all be thrown in a lake...... along with the pins and cones. Too bad plastic dosn't sink. Never tried the Mr.T Ruperts Land is awsome. Nice and stable, hood actually guides the picker onto the pin (dosn't knock pin out of cone like the conquest one) and you can layout with it. bell boy
  5. I shure would like to meet "The Last Pilot"...... He always can lift more, do it faster in the most s&*ty weather known to man. If you find him let me know! BB
  6. Well I am disappointed to see this topic on vertical. I am sorry for those I am about to offend but this is 80% of my income. Being a pilot working in the ALB, B.C. and the USA for the oil and gas industry I have a hard time swallowing the fact that I am killing Mother Earth. Yes the fuel consumption of the AS350B2 that I fly is not the best, but when you look at the miles of road, diesel, and ground disturbance saved by my helicopter… what is the difference? Hard as we must try to “Save the Earth” I figure we should first try to look at what really is happening in NE B.C. and ALB with all of those “Stupid Drilling Rigs”. Yes you will see cut lines that go for miles on end, and where old drilling pads ounce sat. I have been flying seismic and have a very hard time seeing the existing lines from the year before unless you knew where to look. Winter Roads follow old cut lines as much as they can to use existing tree loss. The industry has changed. Allot of this wonderful country lies north of Fort St John B.C. all the way up to the N.W.T. border and East of the Alaskan Highway. I have flown a lot of this country and have noticed that it is a very large income of B.C.; however, all the money that comes from these “Stupid Oil Rigs” seems to go along way from the gravel streets of Fort St John and Ft Nelson. Come to think of it I have never flown over an environmentalist in this area protesting the oil industry. Does David Suzuki have gravel or pavement in front of his house? Alberta is different in the way that the province is more acceptable. Along with being more acceptable because most of the population works in the “Patch”. I find it hard to listen to an environmentalist from Vancouver trying to tell me how to save a tree by not using toilet paper. What is the answer? I know if it comes d T-Shirt I saw the other day that said: own to toilet paper and no helicopters…. I will lobby for the helicopter. “Save a tree and wipe you’re a$$ with an owl” Sorry if I sound “redneck” but where will “It” end? We all work hard in the field not to spill Jet A, Jet B, or Avgas as we try to keep everyone happy. We do more good than bad in my eyes. Should Helicopter companies be issued “Carbon Credits” like the other Canadian industries including grain farmers for the environmental savings we create? If so do these go to the operator or the client? Just wondering, I have never heard of a helicopter company. Getting any help in the fight to help the environment I think would be much appreciated on the pilot’s pay cheque. I know I will get a lot of **** over posting this but sorry I cannot keep my mouth shut anymore. BellBoy P.S. XRKYLE if it is such a problem mind please do everyone a favor and move over so the next 100 hr guy can get the job as PIC

  9. Helijason is that GTEK? If it is, it is a good ship.
  10. Food for thought I was landing in an oil well with a couple passengers with a Jetranger, although the snow wasn't up to the belly of the a/c, the bear paws were holding my tail in the air. As my passengers got out the same side and stepped around the skid to the cargo door they must have loosend the snow under the bear paw and caused the left side to sink. It wasn't enough to cause a problem (still at 100% rpm) but it got my heart a pumping!! After that I explain in my saftybriefs about the bearpaws and why to stay away when in deep snow. BB
