  1. Back on track, can you sling with your engineer on board? Back on topic This was never answered but I would like to here peoples opinion on it. I have slung on numerous occasions with my engineer on board. Is it legal? The only necessity was that I needed him to hook a load in an area were I was unable to power down and hook it myself. I could of just as easily left him in the bush and come back for him later. He is fully aware of the risks involved and is a company employee and a "crew member". But does that make it legal??? And what about forestry personal. They are exempt but really, are they necessary for the operation? Do they even fully understand the risks involved with the operation. I have had forestry personal on board during bucket missions and other than keeping me company well I am out there playing, they really haven't done anything that I would classify as essential for the operation. Sure they may handle the radio (which I am capable of doing myself) but that is it. Usually they say " you have more experience at this than me so just do your thing" There only essential duty is to kick the cargo release pedal if #### hits the fan as briefed by me.
  2. That 20 hours will not help your odds out of the gate unless (and here is the thing) you are fortunate enough to find yourself competing for a turbine job as your first job. People have been hired and put into a turbine right out of the gate but realistically it doesn't happen all that often. You will most likely find yourself piloting a piston for your first couple of hundred hours. I would spend the extra money in getting a 44 endorsement and possibly a 22 endorsement as these are the aircraft you will likely be flying. If you find yourself going in for a check ride on a turbine then go and get your 206 endorsement before the check ride. Research the companies that you want to work for and show up with an endorsement on the aircraft that they will likely have you flying. If you are asked to come in for a check ride then go and do an hour or so before the ride. That will give you an edge!!! Think about it. If you show up at my door and I need a 44 driver who am I am I going to hire first. The guy with the endorsement (translation less money for me to get him up to speed) or the guy with the turbine or other endorsement. If you are that guy with the other endorsement than you had better give me one **** of a good ride and realistically, at 100 hours, that is probably not going to happen. When looking at hiring new low time pilots I am looking at attitude and company fit first followed by flying skills and how hard or easy I think it will be to train you.
  3. Basically the same as a B2 only with better high and hot performance. On a 15c day you should be able to do max external gross up to around 4200 ft. OGE. So with an empty weight around 2800 lbs and a max external gross of 5512 lbs, You are legal at around 2500lbs with zero fuel. Realistically though it will do around 2000 lbs depending on on your fuel.
