  1. I trained in a CF-KGR with Dominion Helicopters in the winter/spring of 1972. T'was a G2 then, as well.
  2. It was a real pleasure to work with Jim. Spent quite a few years together in Churchill, Mb during polar bear season. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. I was privleged to have known him.
  3. Hey, SkyKing, your initials wouldn't by any chance "GM" . If you are who I think you are, ya married a school teacher from Pickle Lake.
  4. Something like this affects us all. I remember when I first started flying. I did some of those tours at spring fairs etc. These two gentlemen would, no doubt, be very happy and excited about getting some hours in. May our thoughts and prayers be with the families and friends of these two young pilots.
  5. I have a question for the moderators or anyone for that matter. I am on "dial-up". Since day one when this site was done-over, it now take forever to get onto this website. Very frustrating to say the least! Nothing has changed for other sites I log onto. Some of them are slow as well, while others, I can get on quite quickley. Any ideas from anyone. Is there something that I can do at my end? Hover Lover
  6. Hey Takem, Thanks for your comments! I'm sure glad that someone in the know at GSHL took the time to comment here. Sure is lots of whinning and tado about something some folks don't know anything about....lots of gossip! I work for GSHL as well and wouldn't work for any other company. So there!!! That's my 2 cents worth!

  8. Hey Elvis, did they ever find this guy? I heard a lot about him going missing and then havent heard anything for a long time. I assume that they din't find him eh? HL
  9. As well, sirlandsalot, don't forget to watch for the big white things as well. They might even hurt ya more!!!
  10. I think it's a great opportunity for a young pilot to get a chance like this. Good for Great Slave and whoever thought this up. Guys and gals, brush up on you flight manual etc. T'will be interesting to see the results of this program, but I'm sure that it will benefit a good number of pilots. Hopefully, they'll do this again for others coming along. GREAT COMPANY---GREAT SLAVE!!!
  11. Today in Iqaluit there were two Griffions parked at the fuel pumps in from of flight services. They got their fuel and just loitered around the ac for about 20 minutes while a Jetranger sat close by with engine running waiting for them to fire up and leave. They then proceeded into the terminal and finally the pilot of the Jetranger gave up and went and parked in another area and shut down. It seemed to those watching that the military pilots owned the apron and felt that they could do whatever they wanted. The pilot of the Jetranger wasted a start up trying to refuel. Has anyone else been treated this way by military helio pilots or is this just two crews being inconsiderate and unprofessional? They knew the other pilot was waiting to refuel. Also, they have been flying their Griffions over town at approximately 2-300 feet. That's something that most of us wouldn't do especially since there is not need for it. These guys are up here for some kind of exercise. There is a frigate and coast guard ship in the harbour and I understand that there may be some jets arriving tomorrow. So, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences or run-ins with guys like these two crews or maybe its just these two crews who were so inconsiderate and unprofessional.
  12. 19 for me! I also remember the "ice men" bringing blocks of ice to our ice box-no frig. Also the milk being delivered by horse and buggy and of course, the old style phone that was fixed to the wall and you had to lift up the receiver and talk into the "voice box" to the operator. Man, I'm old!!!
  13. Yupper, Elvis. I do have many more names, but lots of 'em I know about, some are deceased and some of the names I don't remember who they are. I just picked out some names that I'm completely in the dark about!!! How ya doin? Man, ya must live with the computer eh! I see that some days you are on rather early and quite late! Have a good day there Elvis.
