  1. Condolences to family, friends and co-workers. This is never easy.
  2. Condolences to family, friends & co-workers. It's never easy dealing with a tragedy such as this.
  3. SAR Training Harbour Grace, NL.
  4. I was just wondering if anyone is flying with the new David Clark X-11 headset and have any comments. I've talked to a few guys who have the Bose and they seem to like it. Has anyone out there tried both?? If so, how do they compare. Comments and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks & Cheers. Roger
  5. AS 332L Super Puma. Once a few hours on the S-92 are had, that might change. S-61 still a pleasure to fly.
  6. Two vs one?? Well, it depends on personal preference to a large extent. As you say, two makes it heavier and bulkier as well as more expensive. However, if you don't want to mess around changing visors for different flight conditions, then maybe it's worth two. For example, going from a dark lense to amber for lower light. Dual's can be bulky, but it depends on the helmet. The HGU-56 is bulkier than the HGU-84 no matter if it's single or dual. Some guys like the bungee-on visors too as they can be removed easily. Keep asking around and decide what's best for you is probably the best way.
  7. I'm looking too and have worn helmets for years...however looking for something better. I'm thinking that trying the different ones on would be a good idea. However, from what I get out of the forums and what people are saying, it's customer support that seems to be the deciding factor, and what people are talking about the most. Seems to me that all the popular helmets are good with no major complaints. My short list is the Gallet and the HGU-84.
  8. VFR & IFR. Some Class D hoisting stuff as well as offshore. Checking out all options before I buy. Getting a Gentex from the US is no problem as I'll be down there later this month and we have a base in the US too.
  9. Excellent! Thanks Shaun. Let me know how you like it too. Roger
  10. Thanks for all the great info. It's certainly narrowed my search down. Cheers, Roger
  11. Another one....sigh Heartfelt condolences to family and friends. She was way too young for this.
  12. Thanks for the great feedback, guys. I've also been considering the Alpha and Gallet and have a fair bit of feedback on them that is good too....however not much on the 56 or 84 until now. I wore an SPH 5 for a while and it was OK, but I wasn't overly fussed about it. I guess the 84 is more comfortable and lighter than the 5. Anyone wearing the CEP with a helmet? I've heard that's a great addition too and Gentex comes with them as a factory option....though Flightsuits anyway. Cheers, Roger
  13. How do the Gentex owners out there like these models? Does anyone know of any specific advantages or disadvantages to either of these models when compared against each other?? What about a retailer and support in Canada? Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers, Roger
  14. Hey Folks; I'm in the market for a helmet and would really appreciate some feedback regarding customer service. I've heard some horror stories about how such and such a distributor was great to deal with until they got your cash...then didn't want to know you if you had a problem!! What are some good distributors to deal with? What are some to stay away from at all costs? Thanks in advance for the advice.
  15. It's relatively new and confuses many who have been flying IFR for a while now....most likely because it's so simple - who's used to that?? !! It's outlined in the CAP Gen too.
